Advice
Try to stay as calm as possible, and be sure to stay current on all of your reading assignments. Half of the stress students face their first year stems from falling behind on work and readings. Once they fall behind they spend the rest of the semester playing catch up, which makes my advice of staying calm impossible. Upperclassmen may tell you, "Oh I didn't read and I did great in Contracts!" Don't buy it. Even if they did do well, I wouldn't assume it will be the same for you. You don't want to risk falling behind on your work because Tommy 2L got lucky

Favorite Professor
Honestly, there are too many to name. It's the one thing that really makes Toledo Law so special. The professors have a way of making some of the most mundane topics seem interesting. If I had to pick one, it would be Tax Fraud with Judge Murphy. Judge Murphy is a Federal Judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and a former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. Over the years he has prosecuted and decided numerous tax crime cases, so his hands-on experience made the course extremely interesting.

On Studying
I study in the LaValley Law Library on the second floor, in the third row. I sit in the second chair in from the aisle, facing the entrance and circulation desk. People always said in high school and undergrad that it's important to find a comfortable place to study. I didn't really buy this until I came to law school. After trying out several locations, I found that this spot was the best. In this spot I can isolate myself, while still being able to say hello to my peers who pass by.
