Application Checklist

Thank you for your interest in Toledo Law. Applications for admission will be accepted through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). For additional information about requirements for admission to Toledo Law, please review the checklist below (print version).

Application Checklist for Entering Students:

Register with Law School Admission Council (LSAC) at www.lsac.org to:

boxTake the Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
  • To be considered, your score must be within three years of the date you propose to enter the College of Law.
boxSubscribe to the Credential Assembly Service (CAS)
  • The Credential Assembly Service will generate a report that includes your letters of recommendation and transcripts and is sent directly to the law schools you designate
    • Transcript(s):  Transcripts will be required from all colleges and universities attended. 
    • Letters of Recommendation:  Submit two or more letters of recommendation. A file is complete with two letters, although we will accept up to four.  
      • For recent college graduates, we prefer letters from college professors who can attest to the applicant’s ability to succeed in a competitive professional program. 
      • Those who are not recent graduates may want to submit letters of recommendation from persons familiar with their employment record and achievements.

  • Attach a Personal StatementA personal statement is your opportunity to share information with the Admissions Committee that is not readily apparent in your standard application materials.  Things you may wish to address in your personal statement include:
    • Circumstances in your background that you wish the Admissions Committee to consider when reviewing your application, such as: history of overcoming disadvantage; special experiences or characteristics; history of high academic performance in spite of poor performance on standardized, objective tests.
    • Additional information that you believe is indicative of future success in the legal profession.
  • Attach a Resume
    • Detail your employment history and all extra-curricular and community activities.
  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through August 1.

Application Checklist for Transfer & Visiting Students

boxTo apply for admission as a transfer or visiting student, in addition to the items above, you must
      submit the following:

  • One Official Transcript from your Law School that includes grades for your most recent enrolled term.
  • A letter from the Dean of your previous law school stating that you are in good standing and eligible to continue there.
  • Application Deadline:  30 days prior to the term in which the applicant proposes to enroll
Applications will be accepted for admission year-round.

 

After Your Application is Submitted:
Check the status of your application online through Applicant Status Online (ASO) or contact the Admissions
      Office directly.
 
Scholarship decisions are made on a rolling basis starting December 1, and applicants who are selected for a
      scholarship are notified directly. (No separate scholarship application is required)
 
Applicants for Financial Aid should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
      (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov

The College of Law has a rolling admissions process with no final application deadline. However, applications are reviewed and decisions are made on a continuing basis. Therefore, applications should be completed and submitted as early as possible.
