Professor Nathan is a graduate of The University of Toledo College of Law (J.D. 2004), where he was the class valedictorian. He also graduated from the University of Chicago (Masters in Teaching), and The University of Michigan (B.A.). He teaches in the Domestic Violence & Juvenile Law Clinic, where second- and third-year students have the opportunity to handle juvenile law and domestic violence cases under Professor Nathan’s supervision.

Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Nathan was in private practice for six years focusing in the areas of juvenile and appellate law. He is the former chair of the Toledo Bar Association’s Juvenile Court Committee. Professor Nathan is currently on the board of CASA, an organization that trains and recruits volunteers to represent the best interest of abused and neglected children in juvenile court cases. He is also a member of the Citizens Review Board, which performs a community oversight function by reviewing all Lucas County Children Services cases.

Before entering the field of law, Professor Nathan was a high school English teacher and an investigator and caseworker for Lucas County Children Services.
