Katherine Raup O’Connell, is a graduate of Wittenberg University, B.A. English, cum laude, 1979, and The Ohio State University College of Law, J.D., 1984.
Prior to becoming a Legal Writing Professor at the College of Law in 2005, Ms. O’Connell practiced law for over 20 years. From 1984 to 1987, she was an associate in the Columbus office of Peck, Shaffer & Williams, a Cincinnati law firm specializing in tax-exempt finance. From 1988 to 1991, she was an associate at the Toledo law firm Cooper & Walinski. From 1991 to 2006 she was affiliated with the Toledo law firm Stockwell & Cooperman, as a partner from 1991 to 1997, where she practiced in the areas of real estate, general business and corporate law.
She has been an active member of the Toledo Bar Association, Real Estate Committee, serving as Secretary from 1993-1994. Formerly, she was a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Real Estate and Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Sections, the Ohio Division of Securities Registration and Exemption Advisory Committee, and the American Bar Association.
Currently, Ms. O’Connell is Clerk/Treasurer of the Village of Ottawa Hills and is on the Ottawa Hills Planning and Zoning Commission. She is a former Trustee of the Girl Scout Council of Maumee Valley, serving as Treasurer from 1995-1996. She is also a past –president of the Ottawa Hills Parent Teacher Organization and has served on numerous committees supporting Ottawa Hills Schools.
