James D. Caruso graduated from The Ohio State University and the University Of Toledo College Of Law. He was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1978. Mr. Caruso is off counsel to the firm of Williams, DeClark and Tushman.
Mr. Caruso is a member of the Toledo Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers. He is a Fellow of the Toledo Bar Foundation.
Mr. Caruso has served as president of the Toledo Bar Association, the University Of Toledo College Of Law Alumni Association, the Toledo Junior Bar Association, and the Toledo Trial Lawyers Association. He is a Trustee of the Toledo Bar Foundation and a member of the Council of Delegates of the Ohio State Bar Association.
Mr. Caruso served for ten years on the Certified Grievance Committee of the Toledo Bar Association and chaired the committee for two years. He served as a member of the Supreme Court of Ohio Task Force on Rules of Professional Conduct and currently serves on the Supreme Court of Ohio Task Force To Review the Ohio Disciplinary System. Mr. Caruso has also served as chair of the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education.
His practice is primarily in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and representation of lawyers in ethics and disciplinary matters.
Mr. Caruso has been on the faculty of the University Of Toledo College Of Law teaching Ethics and Professionalism since 1999.
