NOTICE
OF NON DISCRIMINATION POLICY:
It is the practice of
the University of Toledo College of Law Career Services Office to
accept job postings and on-campus interview requests only from
employers who agree to adhere to the following
policy:
The University of
Toledo College
of Law is committed to a policy of equal opportunity in education,
employment, membership and contracts. No differentiation will be
made based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin,
sexual orientation, veterans status or the presence of a disability
except as mandated by pertinent legal
requirements.
MILITARY
RECRUITERS: The policies of the United States Armed Forces
concerning recruitment and retention do not comply with the
above-stated policy of the College of Law with regard to
non-discrimination based on sexual orientation. Under normal
circumstances, the military would therefore be barred from
conducting interviews and recruiting on our campus. As
affirmed last March by the U.S. Supreme Court, however, federal
legislation requires law schools to provide job-recruitment access
to military recruiters or their universities will risk losing
federal funding, including federal financial aid. For this
reason, military recruiters will be allowed access to College of
Law recruiting
facilities. This limited exception is not intended to diminish our
commitment to our non-discrimination policy and our policy will be
applied to all other employers.

March 14th):
The Public
Interest Fellowship Committee is pleased to announce the
availability of Public Interest Summer Fellowships for students
working as volunteers or for marginal pay in the public sector.
Students enrolled in the Public Service Extern Program and
Reinberger Fellows are not eligible to apply for this
fellowship award. For Purposes of this fellowship, a public interest
position includes working for an organization providing services to
underrepresented clients, groups or interests. (e.g. the poor,
elderly, minority
groups, etc.)
Application &
Selection Criteria:
- Before applying, you
must have secured a position as a volunteer or for marginal pay in
the public sector.
- You must commit to
work a minimum of 20 hours a week for 10 weeks over the summer in
the public interest position.
- Criteria that will be
considered during the selection process include factors relevant
to the student’s commitment to a public service career.
Commitment may be demonstrated by a number of factors, including:
- Participation in
public interest/volunteer activities in college, law school and
outside of school
- Essay describing
student’s interest in the practice of public interest law and
the relationship of summer employment plans to legal career
goals
While demonstrated
commitment is a principal criterion for being awarded a fellowship,
consideration will also be given to applicants who may not have
amassed a substantial public interest record but who have
demonstrated their commitment in other ways and/or have explained
the circumstances that may have deterred them from participation in
such activities in the past in their
essay.
Application Process
Interested students must

2008
Loyola Patent Law Interview Program:
Loyola University
Chicago School of Law is hosting the 2008 Patent Law Interview
Program on Thursday, July 31st
and
Friday, August 1st in Chicago, Illinois. This is a nationwide
interview program that targets patent law employers, second and
third year J.D. students and LL.M students with engineering and/or
technical science academic backgrounds. Last year 150 patent law
employers, 140 accredited law schools and 1700 law students
participated. Employers prescreen and choose all of the students
they interview. This is an excellent opportunity if you are
interested in practicing patent law.
If you have an
undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering or technical
science, you may want to consider registering for the program. This
program offers qualified law students the opportunity to interview
with patent law firms, as well as law firms, corporations and
government agencies with patent law departments. There will be
employers who will interview one day and some who will interview
both days. The cost to register is $35 per student. The fee is
non-refundable, even if you are not selected for any
interviews.
To
register, please fill out the attached “Student Registration Form”
and bring it to the Career Services Office along with a $35.00 check
no later than March 24, 2008.
